Shenzhen, China November 16, 2015: The BYD Qin of BYD Auto Co Ltd received a top ranking score of 75 in the Midsize Upper Economy segment according to the recently released JD Power 2015 China Initial Quality Study (IQS). The BYD Qin, considered the world's most popular electric vehicle model, having outsold other global brands for the last 4 months, placed second to the Hyundai Mistra which had a score of 73, but beat Honda, Mazda, Kia and Volkswagen models in the said category.
The J.D. Power Study serves as the industry benchmark for new vehicle quality by examining problems experienced by new-vehicle owwners within the first tow to six months of ownership in two distrint categories: design-related problems and defects and malfunctions. For 2015, the China IQS has been expanded to include more specific diagnostic questions around eight areas: interior, exterior, engine/transmission; driving experience; features/controls/displays; seats; audio/communication/entertain- ment/navigation; and heating/ventilation/air conditioning. The overall initial quality score is determined by problems reported per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower number of problems indicating higher quality.
